LexisNexis Renewal 2016-2017 [1]
The vendor has agreed to retain the previous year's pricing model and to hold a straight renewal of 1.5% increase over 2015/16 prices meaning FTE changes are not factored in. Please see the Pricing section below for full details.
Lexis Advance Quicklaw platform is available. Institutions that have a subscription for Quicklaw can use the old Quicklaw platform, the new Quicklaw platform (LAQ) or have dual access. It is not mandatory to transition to the new platform. Institutions that have also opened Lexis Advance Quicklaw this year can continue to have dual access to both their Quicklaw and Lexis Advance platforms in 2017. Any Institutions that have not, as yet, opened Lexis Advance Quicklaw can do so for no additional charge. Lexss Nexis in conscious of the issues some institutions experienced with the new platform and has agreed to a 1.5% increase, rather than a 2%. Lexus Nexus will be preparing a formal communication with transition plan details that will be sent out later this year. Lexis Nexis is offering three add-on packages containing Wolters Kluwer/CCH Legal and Business titles:
- Securities & Corporate / Commercial content
- Employment, Family, Insurance, Real Estate content
- French content
To RENEW, no response is required from current subscribers as listed above. To JOIN, CANCEL or to CHANGE OPTIONS, libraries should contact BC ELN by the response deadline.
Libraries are welcome to join this license after the subscription start date of January 1, 2017. New subscribers will be pro-rated to the common renewal date.

Quicklaw: Quicklaw stats are available; however they are the standard report formats which law firms utilize, and are not COUNTER format. Currently there is a single password per consortium. Among the reports there is a basic one which gives the number of searches and fulltext document retrievals in a given time period for a given institution. Please contact BC ELN if you'd like guidance on accessing the reports.
Renewal pricing is now available for Quicklaw (Core or Plus), LexisNexis Academic (Core or Plus), and Total Patent, and three new add on packages described below.
These databases are made available to BC ELN partner libraries through a national site licence, negotiated on behalf of Consortia Canada by the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL). Libraries that are members of BC ELN and COPPUL are asked to send their responses to BC ELN.
Pricing has increased by 1.5% over last year's pricing. Maximum and minimum costs have increased by 2%.
