Renewal pricing is now available for Quicklaw, LexisNexis Academic, and Total Patent.

These databases are made available to BC ELN partner libraries through a national site licence, negotiated on behalf of Consortia Canada by the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL). Libraries that are members of BC ELN and COPPUL are asked to send their responses to BC ELN.

Pricing has increased by 2% over last year's pricing. Maximum costs have increased by 2% and minimum costs by 3.5%.

Updates:

The vendor has made a change to the pricing model for this renewal. Originally, the minimum cost for all products increased by 3.5% over last year's minimum cost. The vendor has now agreed to lower the increase to 2%. The pricing of several current subscribers has been impacted by the lower minimum costs. Please see the Pricing section below for the revised minimum costs of all products.

Lexis Nexis has a new platform out but it will not be available to subscribers through the Consortia Canada license until next year's renewal.

From the vendor:

The new platform called Lexis Advance Quicklaw has been launched into the market though for our small law firms and some mid and large customers are transitioning this season. We have been offering our law school accounts the opportunity to run both Quicklaw and Lexis Advance Quicklaw as dual platforms since many law students have indicated that they would like an easier to use platform.

The full content for Lexis Advance Quicklaw isn’t available for our academic customers as yet..Specifically, the legal journals and any international sources have not been loaded.

In addition, the first iteration of Lexis Advance Quicklaw is only available for ID and password type access…so our consortia customers are all IP authenticated. I think most schools may be interested to see the new version but will be happy to have Lexis Advance start up for their students in September 2016.
